I have a son that hates to color and I hope he outgrows it and soon, because I’d love to spend the time ’creating’ in a relaxing environment like coloring. Someday. This year for Christmas we surprised our three girls with a giant dollhouse for their 18 inch dolls.
My child just turned 3, and is very good at color within the lines and will spend 20-30 minutes on one-page coloring it. Hi, I’m Kim! I’m the mom of three and a former chemist turned bookkeeper and mom. I am passionate about helping kids (and parents!) embrace STEM fields by sharing easy and fun learning activities. I also like to help twin moms and just moms in general by sharing the practical parenting methods I have found to work. My motto is you don’t need all the answers in life, you just need to be willing to wonder.
The final point I wish to make is twofold, firstly coloring is great for stimulating your children’s imagination and letting their minds roam free, but it also has a serious and beneficial psychological angle to it, many child therapists will use coloring as a way to see how a child is really feeling, the way they express themselves through colors is very indicative of their state of mind and the emotions they feel. This is another great benefit of coloring for children, it can help you to understand how exactly your child feels at any given time.
